Everyday Makeup Routine With Acne

Im a girl with acne and acne scars. I hate it but what can you do really? Nothing much just try your best to treat it with the right products and eat a clean healthy diet. Well, and covering it up with makeup. Everyday I wish for soft, smooth, clear skin. It’s a wish that will take a while to come true. It’s my only wish really. Acne shouldn’t make you feel less of a person. I have had acne ever since I was ten years old. Yes, I did get bullied in middle school and yes I took it kinda harsh. Who wouldn’t, theres tons of red dots on your face. The face is the first thing a person looks at.

Overtime I learned how to deal with it. Not everyone is perfect. Everyone has a flaw. So don’t feel like you have to hide yourself from the world just because you have something on your face. EMBRACE THAT SHIT. Heck use makeup like I do. Yeah, it covers up those spots but I honestly feel more confident than ever. Its also a fun thing to do. You’re like Picasso painting on your face.  Every morning I wakeup, shower and get started on my makeup. I have the same routine every morning. This is what it looks like…

First I grab my Kiehls Powerful Wrinkle Reducing Eye Cream. I don’t have wrinkles, I’m only 18 and am not planning on getting any anytime soon. Thats why I’m starting right now. The younger you start taking care of your skin the more you’ll thank yourself when you’re older. My under eyes really lack moisture so by using this cream it helps a ton. Plus moisturized under eyes makes you look a lot more plump, refreshed and healthy.

Step 1

Second I apply a dime size amount of BECCA Ever Matte Poreless Priming Perfector to my entire face and make sure its blended out evenly. I leave the house at around 10 and don’t come home until 8 so I really need my foundation to stick to my face and not vanish. BECCA really does the job especially since my face is oily so its easier for my makeup to slip off.

Using my new favorite drugstore foundation by LOREAL called Infallible, I apply a generous amount on the back of my hand to help the foundation warm up so I get a smoother application. Using my Real Techniques Sponge I put a thin layer of foundation on and pretend that it’s my “primer”. Just as if you were painting your wall, you start with a layer, let it dry and paint over it again. Well, thats what I do with my foundation, giving time to dry in between coats. I try to make sure that all of my scars are covered while not making myself look to cakey.

Step 2

To brighten up my eyes I take NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer and apply the lightest shade to my under eyes and blend it in using my Real Techniques sponge. This concealer is a little pricy but let me tell you. This bad boy stays in place and does not crease! Using a lighter shade under your eyes really makes your eyes pop and prevents your face from looking one toned and dull.

After all that is finished I of course need to lock all that good stuff in. I use my ALL TIME FAVORITE Translucent Loose Setting Powder by Laura Mercier to set my makeup and give me a little bit more of that flawless look. The best thing to use to apply is the Velour Powder Puff. In my opinion it really, really sets your makeup and makes it look ten times better. This powder really does its job and keeps my makeup looking fresh throughout the day.

Highlighter is so popular right now and to be honest I’ve been kinda digging it. I don’t go crazy with it and highlight my whole entire face. I use a stifle brush by mac and take my current favorite highlighter by BECCA in Opal and stifle a light amount on my face. I focus on the cheek bones to give me that “vava voom” look when the sun hits my face. I then add a little amount down the bridge of my nose and on my brow bone. By doing this I feel like it really highlights your face and draws people straight to your eyes. So make sure your eye makeup is looking bomb.

Going onto the eyes. I usually don’t fill in my brows but if I’m feeling browsy I take MAC eye pencil and fill in just a tad bit to give me some fullness in my brows. Another trick I do to make me look a little more awake is making a illusion that my eyes are bigger. How do you do that? Taking your liquid eyeliner, I use Stila Stay All Day Liner draw a thin line on your top lash line starting from the outer corner working your way into your inner corner while making the line thinner as you go. This will also give you the appearance of having fuller lashes. Speaking of lashes you can’t forget about that mascara. My new true love goes out to LOREAL Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara. This is a magic stick for my lashes I tell you. It separates my lashes and gives me so much volume. I love to layer my mascara to make them appear fuller but sometimes it can look too clumpy with other mascaras. But this isn’t the case with little miss Carbon Black. Lashes just look stunning.
